The inspiration for this piece started with a silly chin wave - my Dad's silly little goodbye, now living on in my son. Later Gator is bright and playful on the surface, but somewhere between the brushstrokes it became something more: a quiet farewell to summers that keep getting shorter, to my baby who keeps getting bigger, to a world that keeps getting stranger. I can't hold onto any of it. So instead, I'm choosing to look for the good - those small, sweet, everyday moments worth holding onto.
